A Backyard That Finally Works the Way It Should
The original deck had multiple elevations connected by different sets of stairs. While it had plenty of square footage, much of the space felt disconnected and difficult to use for everyday living or entertaining.
The homeowners wanted a backyard that felt open, modern, and functional.
To accomplish that, Turtle WoodWorks completely removed the existing deck and redesigned the entire layout around one primary goal:
Create a single-level outdoor living space that feels larger, more inviting, and easier to enjoy.
The finished project provides uninterrupted outdoor living space while connecting naturally with the new paver patio below.

Why This Design Works
The biggest improvement wasn’t simply replacing old materials.
It was simplifying how the backyard functions.
Removing the different deck heights created a much more usable outdoor space where furniture can be arranged more naturally, guests can move freely, and the entire backyard feels larger.
The black cable railing keeps sightlines open without blocking views of the surrounding landscape, while the white PVC skirting gives the deck a finished architectural appearance.
Together with the paver patio below, the space now offers multiple areas for relaxing and entertaining without feeling crowded.
